The International March for the Elephants took place on Oct. 4, 2013. The march was sponsored by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and was officially scheduled in 15 cities around the world in addition to 30 independent cities to protest the sale of ivory causing catastrophic poaching of elephants. It is estimated that one elephant is killed every 15 minutes or 96 elephants per day. At this rate, elephants will be extinct by 2025. Honored Guests at the DC march included Jim Nyamu, a research scientist and ambassador of Kenya, Singer Rankin, the founder of World Women Work and Will Travers, president of Born Free based in London. I volunteered to document the International March for the Elephants in Washington DC. To learn more go to iworry.org or sheldrickwildlifetrust.org
