First bit of Portland Video (starting at my last day). I'm experimenting with narration. Musing on the myth of eternal return. Music here is Moss Garden by Bowie and Eno, from Heroes.

I hadn't heard that word in a while (and usually it's someone commenting on jewelry). Thanks for reminding me.

I'm loving it. I'll have to watch it again because this time I let your voice come to my ears without trying to understand what you were saying, voice, part of the music.
  • Alex Itin plus 2 years ago
good I was trying to sort of sing the words and then let the echoing smudge it all together. Not sure if the effect is "overused".
  • Remyyy plus 2 years ago
That's maybe the only very small thing I could say. For me, the echo is a bit too much, meaning, we hear the same sentence too much time but as I said, that's really small and that's really me.

Loving the Portland! I miss that place like crazy. Amazing job. I'm a big fan of that beautiful, green, Oregon moss.

'You have a LOT of videos! I'm going to have to check them out when it's not 6am here though.

An inspired use of Bowie's moss garden. I wish the video looked more like the blur you see near the beginning. I know that must have been a small part of the footage you shot but that worked very well. My favorite show is at 2:10.
  • Alex Itin plus 2 years ago
Yeah I dig that opening shot too. I was trying to get the macro to work, but it wouldn't stay in focus. I thought it would end in the trash, but of course the mistake is the take.

2:10 works too... probably my second favorite shot.

i think it's true that "beautiful things always come back to you" this is such an awesome story accompanied by stunning shots and perfect ethereal music (one of my fav Bowie album) the shot on 4:22 is especially splendid (actually even that bamboo shot following it and how it dissolves was just so perfect)
  • Alex Itin plus 1 year ago
I like that one too... one of my three faves from that day.
