Still Life in Motion V: Bubbles
Still Life in Motion, a series of short video works, is an exploration of the intersection of still-life with the seemingly contradictory nature of the time-based art form of video. In each work, an essentially static compositional scenario is altered by the intervention of a time-based action and also fragmented on multiple screens. These video works reference the painterly and photographic traditions of still life, as in Still Life in Motion V: Bubbles in which the compositional, materials, and aesthetic approaches mirror those so famously pursued by Dutch still life painters in the 17th century, with the addition in this piece of bubbles floating through the space.
