According to Brazil’s Globo television, the documents have been leaked by former C-I-A contractor Edward Snowden. He had reportedly obtained them at a 2012 meeting with intelligence analysts from the so-called group of Five Eyes-- made up of the United States, Canada, Britain, Australia and New Zealand. The papers show Ottawa tracked down the Brazilian ministry's communications, e-mails and phone calls with Latin American and Middle Eastern countries. Previous disclosures by Snowden and Brazil-based journalist Glenn Greenwald about US espionage on Brazil have already soured relations between the two countries. Those revelations indicated that Washington spied on the same ministry as well as Brazil’s state-run oil company and even on President Dilma Rousseff.
