Olympic Battle in the 'Grottes de Han' at Red Bull Cavemen
250m MTB, 350m running & 250m kayak in the 'Grottes de Han': that was the challenge 25 top athletes were facing on Saturday 5th of October 2013. Easy? Not if you know we talk about sprint triathlon: An explosive, individual time trial along ascending slippery paths and narrow caverns where every single mistake is punished mercilessly and where agility is an absolute must.
On the startlist were Belgian top athletes: 9x world champ trialbike Kenny Belaey & Belgian champion 800m running Jan Van Den Broeck.
With Arnaud Dubois (BMX), Michael Bultheel (400m hurdles & 400m running) & Maxime Richard (2x world champion kayak river sprint), there were 3 Olympic athletes from London 2012.
Maxime Richard took home victory in a time of 3 minutes 37 seconds, before Bart Stienen & Jerome Richard, ending up 2nd & 3rd.
Maxime Richard is now the first ever Red Bull Caveman.
