Sealaska Heritage Institute's Jim MacDiarmid is known in the education community for a teaching method he pioneered called the Developmental Language Process. In 2009, he produced a series of books on science, math, literature and Native languages that incorporate the process. He put his method to the test at the institute's annual Latseen Leadership and basketball camps in 2009.
