    wow amazing

how do you get such quality at less than 100mb

    I'm wondering the same thing.
When i had the HVX200 the image was noisy and undefined, but the codec was solid as iron, any camera move and image change was recorded as it was film. Now i notice some weirdness sometimes, but i can't understand how can it look so nice even if the bitrate is the same as DV

the motion of the subjects in the frame determines a lot of file size. notice the slow pans, i think the quickest pan is the last shot. pixels reload every frame, technically, so the less a subject moves therefore the lower of change in pixels therefore lower file size.

if i can recall my schooling, im not sure tho. correct me if I am wrong?
  • John Hope 2 years ago
Yes this is right. The more uneven motion, the more data.

Hallo John, Nice shots and indeed there is some stammer in motion. Have the same problems but not so extreme.
Sound: Watch out for the deep frequentie's. My headphone clatter in the lower frequenties. Fliter the music 50Hz at -5Db and it wil be perfect.

Thanks! the soundtrack is at 0dBfs, i should have put it at -12 at least.

    John really good clarity.
    You say
'even if the bitrate is the same as DV'
    Can you school me up.
Do you mean the recording bit rate or the bit rate you edit in and sent to Vimeo?
And what is that bit rate. recording on your camera and
    editing.
Sometimes when I make a DVD and process at bit rate above 5000 my DVD will not play properly in a cheap DVD player.
I love the stuff also you did with your Dad when younger.

    Peter,
    here an explanation of bitrate
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit_rate

I talk about the bitrate on the original hdv or dv format recorded by the camera.
DVD should have something like 4.7mb average and 8mb peak.

    Thanks John,
Sometimes my DVD 's bounce on cheap dvd players.
Do you think the cheap DVD players struggle with high bit rates.
  • John Hope 2 years ago
    Sure, it can be.
