In the 2nd installment of the "In The Lab" series, in which I profile some of Toronto's hottest up-and-coming producers, I got the chance to kick it with arguably the biggest producer in Canada right now, Boi-1da. We talked about everything from using samples vs. creating original compositions, the situation with Kia Shine and "Best I Ever Had", other producers that 1da looks up to in Toronto and worldwide, who he was most proud of having on "Forever", and why Kardinal Offishall had a similar version of the song out previously. We also talk about possible collaborations with Eminem and Dr. Dre, Busta Rhymes, Young Jeezy, and the possibility of his own compilation album. Finally, I ask 1da what project, out of the many that he's currently working on, he's most excited about.

I normally try to get the producer to play some beats/exclusives that aren't out yet as well, however 1da likes to have his stuff come out when it's completely finished and ready so it can shock the world, which I can definitely respect.

Shouts to my home girl Tara for rolling with me and helping set this up! Read her interview with 1da HERE!
