Edited in the camera 1: To work by tube - 1992
6 months ago
When I got my Hi8 analogue video camera back in 1992, I knew that I was a procrastinator. I would never take the time to digitise and edit my footage.
I decided to edit in the camera. I recorded each shot for the length of time and order that I thought would work in a video. As with DV, most people never went back over Hi8 tapes. That meant I needed to get my shots and move on. This process had the advantage of making my videos available for me to show to friends within moments of finishing them. I rewound to start the show.
This one shows how late I sometimes set off to work.

You certainly wouldn't be digitising any footage for editing in the early 90s.
