1. GoPro HD Hero test

Well the sun came out for about 10 minutes in the last week... Not much time to test the HD Hero...

Result? GoPro is great, my skating and moviemaking is pretty bloody awful! Xo

The 60 fps plays back at 60 fps too so it doesn't look slow untill you slow it down. Reducing speed by exactly half is tricky in Quicktime and iMovie so it still looks a little jerky.

Lots of vibration makes the video go wobbly (like looking through wavy glass or something) but this might be because I'm using an unclassed 32 GB SD card? GoPro reccomend class 4 or better.

The sound is very quiet too from within the waterproof housing... to be expected I spose...

On the + side the black sunspot effect seems to have been sorted though!

The photos in photo mode are great when there's plenty of light. With a BIG SD card you can guarantee there'll be a couple of class shots if you have it on 'keep shootin' mode...

Plus in general the GoPro is lots of fun to mess around with. I can't wait for a dry spell to film a session with a good posse in stead of bein Billy-no-mates with a pole on a longboard! haha!

I hope every one else who's been waiting (im)patiently for their postman is a happy bunny too now!

Good Luck!

Oh Scratch the bit about the half speed slow mo!

I found the AV controls in Quicktime's Window menu. You can set the playback speed from there and the 60fps IS smooth as a loose bowel movement!!! Haha! Go Pro rocks!

Dude, how did you mount it on the longboard, I tried the HD on mine the other day (dervish drop through) and was looking for hints! thanks

Ay up Marcus! I attached the sticky quick release buckle to the kicktail with all the extensions I have so that it would stick out as far as possible... Not a great idea as it turns out as one of them broke, probably from bouncing around to much :(

I saw a guy in Czech for the IGSA champs this summer with a great metal attachment bolted over his baseplate on a dropthrough that you could fit an extension arm on... Looked like a pro home made job CNCed aluminium and all that... Bastard! Some people have all the tools haha!

hi maybe the wobby effect is because the cam has a rolling shutter CMOS? you can try to remove the effect with virtualdub plugin: 'deshaker'
