No matter where you are on this diverse and beautiful world, the sounds animals make are the same anywhere, or are they? Depending on the language the translations of the animal's acoustics vary.
Exiled from their original countries, the mass re-location of people and animals to Australia has forced the native population of this country in a position of exile on its home turf. Australia is a country where the population is continuously a work in progress as many language groups and cultures mix together as well as resist each other. The sound explorations in this artwork have this sequence of displacements and assimilation embedded in its roots. This essence coming to the fore through exploration of the audience with the work and the social interaction generated in the artwork.
Animals in Exile is proudly supported by KitStop by introducing the MXA072 Solid State Recorder Payback Unit. Here, electronics meets artistic skills to create an entertaining, involving and interactive demonstration of how how electronics can add new dimensions to creative ambitions.
