This was my first ever shots with this cam. The settings were 25P, 1/50s shutter in TV mode. The default exposure was too bright for my eyes, so I used the manual adjustment to reduce the exposure until only the brightest highlights (reflections mainly) were showing 100% zebra.

This adjustment makes the image a bit dark, so I applied an S-curve in Vegas to bring back the midrange. I didn't touch the colours though, they are straight from the cam.

And it was on autofocus. The IAF (Instant Auto Focus) on this cam seems to respond very quickly, even indoors.

Hi Michael. Mine is a PAL type cam, so the nearest I can get is 25P. However Vimeo have kindly "converted" it to 30P which is why it's a bit jerky. If you download the MP4 file you will see it in 25P which should look similar to 24P.

Hi Richard, I love F-1 racing and your new camera
is very impressive, thinking of getting one, have you seen any drawback...?...went to the Belgium F-1 last year. Do you have your music compositions
elsewhere on the web to listen to...?
Do you compose music for other independent filmmakers...?
I am working on a new short movie, a psychological
thriller involving the inner conflicts going on in a dancer......let me know.....fil@comcast.net....thanks

Hi digifil. I normally use an XH-A1 and just bought the HV30 for travelling because of the small size. Of course there are some things that could be better (e.g. manual focus control is too sensitive) but for the price it seems crazy to complain too much. If you look at other cams in a similar price band you don't get nearly so much manual control and the image is not as good.

You can hear some music I did here:

    vimeo.com/605104

This was intended as a music-based "making of" film, so the music is much more obtrusive than would be the case if it was for a "proper" movie. Mainly I write songs but am very interested in writing for movies. I'm travelling back to Singapore later today (will take around 28 hours though) and will get in touch with you after that, see what we can do.

Hi Marty. I exported as Mainconcept h.264 AVI file, with resolution of 1280x720, 25P, and bitrate of 5Mbps, 2-pass VBR. Is that enough info?
