Mycobacteriophages deliver a fluorescent marker gene to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium that causes tuberculosis, in this microscope video from the lab of William Jacobs, Ph.D., an immunologist at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and 1985 Ph.D. graduate from UAB. Scientists can then use that fluorescent marker in tests to rapidly determine bacterial resistance to various drug treatments. Learn more about Dr. Jacobs's research in this feature from UAB Magazine: uab.edu/uabmagazine/2013/october/jacobs
