I shot with a Canon 16-35 2.8L , a Sigma 50 1.4, and a Canon 70-200 2.8L. I mounted the camera on a Tyler Mini Gyro and then used SmoothCam in Final Cut to get the shots rock solid.
Just to mention that on some scenes the horizon is unleveled, typical of aerial shots, maybe you would want control for this.
Regards.
I shoot these aerial out of an open door of a helicopter with a TylerMount Mini Gyro. As such, I dont have the level of rotation that I would with a WesCam or other fully controlled gyro system. When I frame theses shots, many times I am balancing a trade off between a level horizon and focusing on the scene or subject. I am very pleased with the results that the MiniGyro gives me, especially for the costs, but I hope in the future I will have the opportunity to do more aerials with a more robust system.
I shoot with a full-size camera, the PMW-350, and I'm trying to stay away from using slo-mo or FCP SmoothCam due to the artifacts that are introduced. But still, your video looks quite nice....perhaps there wasn't much for SmoothCam to fix? Or was there? Would love to see what a bit of the original looked like; kinda a before and after. I realize the mini gyro is no Tyler "Middle Mount", but I can see where the mini can get farther out the door and at more severe angles than a middle mount. I do wish Tyler would improve their on-line demos....you should send them yours!
But again, nice stuff, and thanks for posting.
