Scientists in Georgia have revealed one of the most dramatic discoveries in human origins.
It’s a complete one-point-eight million-year-old skull of an ancient human relative found in a village in the former Soviet republic. It’s been named Skull-five and belonged to an adult male with a large jutting jaw. The brain-case is less than half the size of that of a person today. Four other partial skulls were found along with it, dating from the same time. But they were all different from each other. The discovery has generated intense excitement among scientists who believe the finds could rewrite the early history of mankind.
