Stunning!!! Simply brilliant. I think this is your best piece of work I have seen so far. How long do these shorts take you to make?
  • Philip Bloom plus 2 years ago
they vary. this one took about 4 hours of filming, maybe a bit longer. Tent Rock was just 1 hour 30 minutes of filming. Editing varies too, but normally around two to three hours then I tinker for a while.

    Well done Philip...v nice.

    TECHNICAL QUESTION..

Do you get any issues with grain on bright skies and evenly lit surfaces with this setup...I have an ex1 and im looking at the extreme.

    Very nice work.
How does the Extreme compare with the Ultimate?
Do you need the extra features the Ultimate offers, compared to a simpler model?
    How does Magic Bullet work?

Oh, and assuming you are using an EX3 now...Can you use the Letus and prime lenses without the sony lens in between? - ie Can the letus attach directly to the camera lens mount? Assuming that would save a lot of f-stop...

Wow, I really like the black and white here. I'm doing a feature that was supposed to be in Super16 black and white, but due to financial difficulties we'll have to shoot it digitally. I would be ever so grateful if you could give me some tips on how to get it lookin so good, is it a magic bullet created look? Any filters? It's nicely soft, is that an on camera filter or a postproduction thingy?

I'm sure its been said, BUT, This piece is so evocative, your choice of musical accompaniment, the austere, other-worldly nature of the landscape, The clean yet buttery B&W..... beautiful, truly beautiful. The ending scenes, as the sky darkened and music faded, makes me think of David Lynch, but in a peaceful yet still foreboding way.
    Thanks for this piece.

Philip, just stunning. This video took me right back to my childhood when I went to Dungeness for the first time. I took B&W photos using a Polaroid camera. I remember climbing to the top of the old light house and walking for miles on the pebble beach just looking for the sea. Thanks for the wonderful memories and the inspiration to try and better my video skills.

    Martin.

Philip, this is my favorite place in UK for taking photographs. And your video is my favorite ever from vimeo or youtube. Just so calm and nostalgic. I would like to meet you some day there.
    Regards.
