There's a pond near my home that I see everyday yet I rarely stop to photograph. Today, on my way home from Portland, I decided that I need to do more of things that I want to do instead of just passing them off and telling myself "I'll do that some other time." Well, there is no other time. The time is now. I had my camera and gear in the car and the weather broke enough that the opportunity could not have been any better.
So, I stopped and walked around for a bit, took some stills and nearly left, but then I figured I would grab some video, too. Well, that turned into a few clips and then a few more. Eventually I had an idea for a short and I stared looking around for other shots. This is the result of that search.
I wanted to record how still and calm nature is even when it's 20 feet from a freeway or a supermarket. Beauty is everywhere and in the right context, the things around you can be seen as a works of art or natural designs or just something that can have a calming effect on the human psyche.
