In September, 2013, 100 members of the Committee on Design of The American Institute of Architects, toured Berlin, Dessau and Potsdam, Germany for our fall conference. This ten minute video is a summary of my photographs and videos from this eight day trip.
Capturing images that tell powerful stories about the architecture and the life of architecture presents unique challenges on a group tour including quick viewing of many buildings, sometimes shooting from a moving bus, many people in your group in the buildings, suboptimal weather conditions, dragging a heavy camera backpack with appropriate equipment, continuous concentration, etc.
I look at this as a practice. Almost like practicing haiku or summarizing experience to just a few words. Can I use the camera to look deeply at just the moments that present themselves without the ability to "control" many conditions that architectural photography as a formal practice usually controls.
This is an offering to you of that experience.
Enjoy.
