Philip, is this with the EX1 achromat fix? I'm still seeing some vignette on the left side (see 1:58ish with the ducks).

As always, lovely work. Your projects never cease to inspire and awe. See you around dvxuser.

    Phil,
I have been following you for the last month. Paul Joy has made me discover the PMW Ex1, which I bought a few weeks ago. Searching on the web you came out as a great video shooter and have been following you since. Thanks for shooting, I should say.
    From Fil, Rome, Italy.

  • Kingofpunk plus 2 years ago
Sorry, I write it in French, I mean "appeasement"

[to bring to a state of peace, quiet, ease, calm, or contentment]

That's cool, no need to apologize. I totally agree.

To be able to take everyday events and transform them into such a work art is truely a gift.
The sight and sound of this piece reminds me of classical Russian ballet. BRAVO!

Apart from the stunning images, this has a very nostalgic feel for me as I used to go to Kew nearly every Saturday or Sunday back in the 80's.

Did you make use of the crank functions on the camera in the ice skating bits? Or did you do it in post?
  • Philip Bloom plus 2 years ago
yes it was shot 720p 60fps

Your video is awesome but do you have to put an anamorphic adapter on to the camera or can you just put the Letus Extreme right on to the camera?
  • Philip Bloom plus 2 years ago
    letus goes straight on camea

Really great. Such nicely balanced exposure. I'm impressed by all the EX-1 footage I see. It seems to have very good dynamic range.

  • Samu Ainesmaa 2 years ago
I agree. I can't believe I haven't watched this film until now despite being a big fan of your work..

This truly is a magical short. Every shot seemed to have something to say, which is what I like. The camera movement was ace..

    Stunning location.

EDIT: To add, I really love how you, in several shots, change focus whilst panning. It look brilliant.

  • Magical and very beautiful.
I know Kew Gardens well - my father worked there back in the 70's so it brings back many fond memories.

The EX1 is a great camera - mine should be here soon, but regardless of the camera, being creative is the most important thing, if not the hardest, and its in this area you shine Mr Bloom ... you take the care and time needed in the field and editing room to make your images communicate - this for me is the `crossover` into visual art.
    Fabulous work!

    Kindest regards
    Chris

Every time I see your work, I feel like that guy in the movie Bird who hears Charlie Parker play, and then goes and throws his own saxophone off of a bridge LOL You set the bar high my friend.

I have been reading watching posting and all the rest, to educated myself to make a smart purchase. I don' want to put my full order in here for u to see. But i would appreciate the advise of a professional... i guess one final one, a user of the product. I am buying an ex3. My television background was telling me the lens is good, but my recent drift into Cinematography strongly gets me in the Letus extreme direction. But so far i spend high dollars and the final thing is the glass in front of the letus. WHAT DO I GO WITH? 80-200 2.8f L by canon and something like a 17-40. For wide-angle shots. I want my stuff to look like a million buks and i want the shallow dof, a must.... no more tv/ Cinematography... Best advise, experience based.
Will use the lenses on a outdoor documentary... Tropical.
