Hamstring strains are an unfortunate reality in almost any sport. With quick changes in speed and direction during activity, large amounts of stress are placed on the hamstring which can lead to a tear or strain.

The hamstring is a group three muscles on the back of the thigh which are the powerhouse of your legs. They allow us to bend our knees, pivot, straighten our legs, and control movements from the hips. If athletes begin to feel a sudden sharp pain in the back of their thigh, experience swelling or bruising, or pain during stretching or contracting the muscle, they may have a hamstring strain.
