A 30 second animated piece for QUT's KNB124 3D Animation 1 unit final assessment.

The goal of the assessment was to animate a 30 second looping animation of a character jumping around a planet, which rotates twice within the 30 seconds. The placement of the world and placeholder character were provided to us in a file, everything else was up to the student - character design, animation, world design, lighting and so forth.

There were some additional elements I aimed to include which didn't make the cut due to time. such as additional background characters and larger variation between the two scenes during the rotations.

Software: Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3DSMax, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects

Everything was modeled in Maya with key items sent to 3dsmax for UV Unwrapping (3dsmax has a much stronger toolset). Animation was handled in Maya using basic Bend, Squash, Twist and Sine deformers. Rendered with Mental Ray and Final Gather, then taken to After Effects for color correction and tweaking - Reds were desaturated, greens oversaturated and a false sense of focus applied withe lens blurring and sharpening.
