This is one of several films that my Dad shot on Super 8 when I was a kid and most likely one of the reasons why I continue to be drawn to use Super 8 today. I have a bunch of these types of films and am going to work to get them online. This one I transferred on my own using my own projection setup and capturing with a DV camera. The results are not perfect by any means but maintains the look and feel of the original film. Nonetheless there is quite a bit more flicker in this capture than if I sent the films somewhere to have them professionally transferred. I'm guessing the film stock was old Kodachrome 40 but I have no way of knowing for sure.
I'm the blonde haired boy and the dark haired boy is my younger brother Ryan. This film was shot in Padre Island, TX or somewhere thereabouts. I think I was 5 years old which makes this about the 1979 timeframe. Also in the film you can see my Mom (who I think was pregnant with my youngest brother Adam at this time).
My Dad shot this film with an old JC Penny model Sanyko camera which I still have and shoot with from time to time.
