Kevin Chin was born in Malaysia and is currently based in Japan & Australia. His work explores how we create a sense of belonging within the global village. His practice is based in oil painting, and crosses sculptural and photographic languages to open spaces between those remembered and imagined. By re-assembling fragments of paradise with the domestic, he finds the otherworldly within the everyday.
Chin is a finalist in the Fleurieu Art Prize 2013, currently the world's richest landscape painting prize; Black Swan Prize (Perth) 2013; and the Gold Coast Art Prize (2012). He is a twice recipient of the National Association for the Visual Arts Australian Artists’ Grant (2010, 2011).
