Maybe one Morning
----------------------
VFS 3d animation and Visual Effects
mentor: Brent Greening
my reel inspired by a Eugenio Montale's poem
"Forse un mattino"

"Maybe one morning, walking in dry, glassy air,
I’ll turn, and see the miracle occur:
nothing at my back, the void
behind me, with a drunkard’s terror.

then, as if on a screen, trees houses hills
will suddenly collect for the usual illusion.
But it will be too late; and I’ll walk on silent
among the men who don’t look back, with my secret."

please give me suggestions and critics to improve my work!

    This looks great!

Only crits is some of the shots need more passes to make them blend into the shots more.

But regardless of those opinions, I love the work and it was Rock Solid to me.
  • mario brioschi 2 years ago
thanks man! which shots do you thinks needs more passes?
  • FA1LURE 2 years ago
:42 seconds with the fire hydrant. (Shot 6)
I'm not sure what it would need, but its the only segment that stood out as 3d.

Other than that I can't say much on the rest, I guess I was wrong when I said "some of the shots", sorry about that.

    Excited to see more stuff!
  • Harriet Macdonald 2 years ago
Love it- really cool! It was only the fire hydrant I noticed too- maybe darken it a bit??? But love the idea and the floating words at the beginning are also really nice and poetic
  • Anders Hattne 2 years ago
Yeah, the fire hydrant didn't integrate like the others. I can't say exactly why, but I think it should be sharper somehow.

The rest though, awesome! Really liked the texture on the fence poles!!!

When I saw the hydrant I thought you had shot it near Tiger Wood's house!
    The actual effects are exceptional.
A top effort that has restored my faith in Staff Picks
  •
  • Mic Stowe 2 years ago
Bravura, you have exceptional skill. It would also seem--by your conceptualization of Montale's poem--that besides excellent technique, you have the soul of an Artist.

Like the poster above, the only thing that caught my eye just slightly was the fire hydrant. But let me be sure to make it clear that this is one of a very few effects--including Hollywood--that has drawn me in & convinced me.

    Peace.

Brilliant work, and great music as well.

    Huaaaaaooo.. Excelente.

  • Caio Porciuncula 2 years ago
The harmony between Eugenio Montale's word and your creativity flows in a manner that impresses me. I will never be jaded from watching this piece over and over again. The music contributes by adding that almost nostalgic tone to the video. Good job, and never let the so-called simplicity of life make you short on ideas.

  • bob lorrimer plus 2 years ago
Compelling from beginning to end..but.....You can improve it a further 100% by adding the Sound.
  • Michael Brown 2 years ago
I agree with Bob. Adding sound would seriously enhance the impressive effects , but as you know Bob, I think they had their hands full with the visuals. The sound means doing the same thing with audio – real sound design – and that's hell of a lot of work... Congratualtions.
  •
  • Frederic Grasset plus 2 years ago
Fantastic!!! I wasn't into special effect. It makes me want to reconsider...This is also nice that you tell us what you used. It is true that with more texture on the fire hydrant, or sun reflection on tiny rusty particles would take away the 3D plastic look of the fire hydrant.

    Good job

  • John Green plus 2 years ago
I loved the 3D title with the shadow on it hanging in the air as he walks by... that's really different and I would like to see more things like that. Actually I wish I could do things like that myself! Really dreamlike and compelling. I'm seeing so many great things coming out of VFS.

It is the old dream of a child. Flying. Undo the most obvious of all rules in the material world.
I remember this vision to be a main part of my dreams when I was young. =)
Now looking a bit less casual on your turn around towards your "secret" would have made it easier to feel into this.
    Anyway, good work.
