Ahmed Rahim, co-founder Numi Tea, and several employees were recently interviewed about thier partnership with Community Gatepath, a REDF-supported social enterprise. Through venture philanthropy, REDF creates job opportunities for those who are most disconnected from the workforce by funding social enterprises that help people gain the skills to help themselves. One of the organizations they support, Community Gatepath, is a nonprofit that fosters hope, dignity, and independence among individuals with disabilities through three social enterprises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ahmed was interviewed about the relationship that has developed between Numi and Community Gatepath over the course of their nine years working together. As Ahmed explained, “We have a lot of objectives to accomplish… and as much as we can do it through organizations that are helping – whether it’s a physical or mental disability, whether it’s a wage, whether it’s housing, whether it’s healthcare, education – in any way we can give back through the process, I don’t see why not.” To find out more about Numi, visit numitea.com.
