My Nuh Totoro

This song was conceived during a road trip through upstate NY. As driving rain poured down and I listened to my children watching Hayao Miyazaki's "My Neighbor Totoro" for the 1001 time, oddly enough, the muses begged me to marry the Totoro theme with Audio Two.

I crafted the song for my youngest daughter Katerine's second birthday. As the pieces of the movie and the Hip Hop beats came together with an unexpected ease it was clear I had discovered an unlikely affinity between Golden Era Hip Hop and Miyazaki's endearing film of children moving into a mysterious new home.

The video is a modest attempt to bring a visual document to this audio celebration of Miyazaki's film and ARM 18 classic boom bap. It's also serves as an early Christmas gift to Katherine. Enjoy.
