A terrific thunderstorm drenched New York City last night. Within minutes, the streets were flooded with more than an inch of rain. I was at our workshop with a bunch of friends. It was going to be greatest night yet! Beer was overflowing, Alex, Paul and Jakob were building bookshelves, Jessica and I were working on my furniture project, and Leslie and Carolyn were drinking on the stoop listening to the rain through the open door. All of a sudden, one of the girl shrieked and pointed to a stream of water that started to flow out from the bathroom. It quickly picked up intensity and was soon gushing, so much that is sounded like a creek. The shower drain was spewing! We picked everything we could off the floor, as fast as we could, and then shut off the electricity. At the end of the night, the entire floor of our space was left covered in nearly 2 inches of sewage water!

I guess it could've been worse... It could have been 3 inches of sewage water.

It could have been... 6 inches, on your roof, and then you would have decided to inflate a raft and drink beer on your new island paradise!

Nothing spoils a fun night like a flood of sewage water.

    That really sucks.

Dang terrorists. This was an insidious attack on the USA.

2 inch... that would have been perfect to do some indoor skimboarding.

You should invest in some non-return valves for all of your pipes that run into the main sewage lines. (I know: shut gate, horse already gone) If you have been flooded once you can be sure that it will happen again.

I'm not sure how much it would cost to get done but at least you would have peace of mind.
