“Toxic Relationships”

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. – Ephesians 4:31-32 (NLT)

Factors that Keep us from Forgiving:
IMMORAL - disqualified vessels
INSUBORDINATE – reject authority
IRREVERANT – disrespect & rebel against leaders
IGNORANT – lacking knowledge & wisdom
INSENSITIVE – self-focused & promoting; not sensitive to others
INSECURE – always jealous of others
INFECTED – toxic with poisonous gossip that affected others
IMMATURE – child-like approach to adult-like challenges

4 Some time later Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah, who lived in the valley of Sorek. 5 The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, “Entice Samson to tell you what makes him so strong and how he can be overpowered and tied up securely. Then each of us will give you 1,100 pieces of silver.” 6 So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me what makes you so strong and what it would take to tie you up securely.” – Judges 16:4-6 (NLT)

Lessons we Can Learn from Samson:
1. YOUR NEVER THAT STRONG ENOUGH TO RESIST YOUR ENEMY
When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom. – PROVERBS 11:2 (NKJV)
Samson was unequally-yoked with three Philistine women:
A. Philistine wife from Timmah - physical attraction - Judges 14:1-3
B. Harlot from Gaza- unharnessed desire Judges 16:1
C. Delilah - unbridled passion & blind love - Judges 16:4-6

2. YOU’RE NEVER THAT WEAK ENOUGH TO STOP FIGHTING FOR YOUR VICTORY
And if your troops cross the Jordan keep fighting until the Lord has driven out his enemies. NUMBERS 32:21 (NLT)
Lesson We Learn From Jesus Christ:
FORGIVE!

3. JUST DO IT
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. – Matthew 5:9 (Holman)

17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. – James 3:17-18 (NIV)
