The August Man Men of the Year issue is one that is especially important to us. Since August Man launched in 2008, it has always been the magazine's goal to highlight the achievements of individuals with a pioneering spirit, those who dare take the road less travelled. It is something we hope we do each month but it is something that is especially reflected in our annual Men of the Year issue.

It was back in 2009 that we launched our first Men of the Year. It was something we tried as a trial tyring to gauge what kind of a response we would get. This year we celebrate our fifth Men of the Year issue and it is something we are extremely proud of. We are constantly told that is is quite a task to find individuals who fit the bill. But we beg to differ and we have 50 men of distinction and one woman of substance to prove sceptics wrong.

Our main challenge is really convincing the guys as many of them believe that they have much more to accomplish before being honoured as such! Our objective is to go beyond the obvious and highlight the work of those who remain under the spotlight of the mainstream. It is something that we have managed to do in the past and it is something we hope we have done time around too.
