This interview was produced for the project In Search Of.... organised by curators Lennard Dost and Daniel Dennis de Wit in the fall of 2012. The project was in remembrance for and as a tribute to Bas Jan Ader. As part of the exhibition four people were interviewed who actually have known Bas Jan Ader in his youth.
Mrs. Kuiper-Bruins did the housekeeping for the Ader family in the last two years of the Second World War. She took care of the newly born Bas Jan Ader in 1943 and had to stand some anxious moments as the Germans were looking for hidden Jews. She recalls the little Bas Jan playing with the hidden Jews and how he, at a very young age already climbed in the roof-gutter and her successor had to talk him out of it.
