Taking the lead role in the primary school Christmas play at the age of 10, was my first experience of acting and I thrived on it, receiving rave reviews spurred me on to do more. I continued to act throughout school, it was the one subject I was passionate about. However leaving school I took the sensible route and got a job in an office, whilst continuing to feed my need to act via the amateur circuit.
Most days were spent dreaming of the stage or a part on Coronation Street, then wondering what on earth I was doing here, in an office. I was only truly happy when rehearsing for, or performing in a show. The time came when I needed to have a word with myself, and ask why I was not pursuing acting as a real career, when it had been my lifelong dream.
So at the age of 28 with my parent’s full support I auditioned for a place at Salford University. This was the best thing I could ever have done, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Playing characters such as Mari Hoff in 'The Rise and Fall of Little Voice' and Lady Bracknell in 'The Importance of Being Ernest' I was in my element.
In 2011 I graduated with a first class honours degree in Media and Performance. Upon graduating I formed Loose Lips Theatre Company swiftly followed by Sparks Theatre School, with two fellow students. As Managing Director of Loose Lips Theatre Company, and Sparks Theatre School, I write, produce and perform in the North West and beyond. In the relatively short time we have been a company we have written and performed 5 shows for Loose Lips Theatre (looselipstheatre.co.uk) which have all received great feedback and heartfelt laughter from our audiences. Additionally we have produced 5 shows with our students at Sparks Theatre School.
I continue to be madly in love with acting, my dreams and aspirations are much the same as they always were, to be recognised for engaging and memorable performances. I would love a part in soaps, dramas, or stage performances...I just want to act.
