On Diario del Fin,
“While browsing a newspaper in Lima I came across a note: a woman who had just been diagnosed with a terminal disease, later that day jumped off a cliff where many in Lima jump to their death. It seemed she had painfully but rightfully anticipated that her illness would only bring bitterness and further ruin to an already "ruined" family --as nearly half the country lives under the poverty line. But her "self-elimination" had neither the "dignity" of a sacrifice, like that of the elderly man who is abandoned by his clan with full honors somewhere in the rain forest, nor that of the old man that is left to float on a raft until his death in Micronesia.
Instead, it seemed like a self-immolation absent from any credit, a “reflex-act,” an instinctive extreme reaction, like those taken during a disaster. The type of decision one takes in a place where no state or order exists. I just tried to imagine what goes through the head of someone living chronically at the edge and then actually, facing the edge itself . . .” - Juan Alejandro Ramírez
“. . . as usual was amazed at your deeply human, bitter-melancholic and existential-philosophic narrative and imagery.” - Karen Rais-Nordentoft. Director Århus Film Festival
