After being disappointed with several aspects of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, I rented a Canon 5dmkIII from Lens Rentals (lensrentals.com). They rent it with the Magic Lantern raw hack pre-installed. Seeing if I want to buy this as a guerilla filmmaking camera.

This is my first attempt at shooting raw. I had 2 or 3 instances of dropped frames in about 4 hours of total usage so far (Lexar 128gb 1000x CF card). I've also noticed some vertical banding in the shadow areas of my high ISO footage (this video was all shot at ISO 100, though). I believe this rental camera doesn't have the latest release of the hack, however, so these issues may be improved by now.

The purpose of this video was to try to push the saturation and dynamic range as far as possible in mid-day light.

Lenses:
Rokinon 85mm f/1.4
Nikon 24mm f/2 AIS with Rainbow Imaging adapter

Post workflow:
DNG to CinemaDNG in Rawmagic
Open in DaVinci Resolve 10 Lite
Apply Hunter Hampton's Alexa LUT
push saturation to 70%
export ProRes 444
final editing in FCP X
upload ProRes Proxy to Vimeo
