Well not that much new information, nevertheless great! Thanks for upload.
  • But the important thing is to get this out to people that haven't seen it! :)

These sorts of lectures are a pretty good means of introducing people to these social concepts.

I hope Jacque is familiar with Peoples Temple ( Jonestown ) and the Bioshock game.
  • Bret 2 years ago
I don't think you understood the ideas Jacque attempts to promote as they are vastly different in motivation and intention than the ideas used as a fictional element in the fictional game Bioshock. Also, I see no relation to Jonestown. Please expand.
  • Johnyboy 2 years ago
I said that 'cause we can't forget our past. We must learn with our mistakes ( Jonestown ). One man's vision, mankind salvation ( Bioshock ). I'm just saying the 'cause i realy want things move forward. And who are u anyway? (^^.)
  • People's Temple has nothing to do with, nor will it ever, to do with us.
  • Thomas Chapman Jr. 2 years ago
The game, Bioshock, was an example of an extremely capitalistic, survival of the fittest, completely unregulated free-market system that was corrupted by the very first ambitious monopoly due to it's encouragement and glorification of ambition and entitlement.

The only similarity is if you built a Venus Project city and instead of building up a social establishment based on equality, togetherness, and responsible management, you just dumped in the same greedy corporate CEOs and businessmen. Without the social aspect, the Venus Project would turn out the exact same as "Rapture", the fictional "utopian" city in the game.

Obviously, Jacque's emphasis on moral values and cooperation make the Venus Project it's polar opposite.

If the VP will be compared to some form of science fiction literature, just for the sake of curiosity, I believe its closest parallel is to Gene Roddenbarry's Star Trek: TNG (excluding most plots and characters framed from today's social values).

His portrayal of the United Federation of Planets' social values is what really intregued me. My reaction to this ideology lead me to inquire why humanity is so barbaric, but alas I didn't possess the fundamental knowledge to answer those questions.

As time passed my passion to seek reasoning slipped away as I thought I was only one of a few asking these questions. In finding the VP, it ignited that passion within me once again, emerging leadership within myself to continually self educate so I may one day become a viable problem solver and advocate to the VP and ZM.

Thank you Jacque, Roxanne, Peter, for unclouding the path I seek in life.

Jacques is the first genius of his genre to ever have a solution for the explained problems that everyone should be able to understand.

He is the construct of a future that requires full cooperation, involvement and understanding for the entire human race.

I have never heard ANYONE make as much collective sense as this man-George Carlin was a close second. We must learn from these individuals(including Peter Joseph)so that we as responsible individuals can finally break the cycle and not repeat the failures of our past.

    Power to the People!!!

There is one thing that I am criticising about this otherwise much needed debate and movement... it is the already prevailing idea in today's society that science and technology are indisputable, self-explanatory fact-like institutions, whereas meaning, probability, error margins, preferences... are, in fact, not the outcome of filling out the blanks in scientific formulae but rather what you do, once you get some more or less accurate, verified and validated results... so there is a lot of work that on the one hand precedes the scientific process and also that follows it. Numbers have no meaning other than that which every one of us associates with them.

ONCE YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT JACQUE IS SAYING YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE VENUS PROJECT....
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ARE RESPECTORS OF NO SOCIETY AND WE HAVE TO BE PREPARE TO FACE THE FUTURE...........science is our guide and nature our inspiration............keep fighting for what is right and i will too............and the world will live as one.

tb... Please allow me to try and clarify in the best that our primitive language will allow. What Jacques is advocating when he talks of science and technology is the practical application of The Scientific Method for society. If you don't know what The Scientific Method in fact is, let me try to break it down for you as best I can.
    1. State your question. (The first answer to this will always be "I don't know")
    2. Gather all information and data possible related to your question.
    3. Form a hypothesis.
    4. Test your hypothesis
    5. Report/share your results with the rest of us.
    6. Rinse and repeat :)

You have probably already used The Scientific Method without even knowing that you have...Hey, I guess that makes you a scientist!

As for "technology". All this word really means is tools. If you have a hard time seeing and you need a pair of glasses to see better, well, you're using technology. All of our problems today are technological-related. For example: If you want to feed starving children in Africa, do you sit around an pray about it? Or wish upon a star? Or do you write a letter to congress /parliament? Hell no! You figure out a way to produce and distribute enough food to satisfy everyone's needs.

I've seen Zeitgeist and have to say I've thoroughly enjoyed both the movie and the addendum. However, I think the Venus project is way too idealistic. Yes, it would be great if we could just share all the world's resources. The problem is not with Money or the Capitalistic system. If you look at where the best living conditions have been, it's been under a capitalistic system. The problem with Capitalism is that government got involved and that's where it fails. If you look at where there have been more suffering, it's a socialistic system. The Venus project seems to be about sharing or rationing resources. Doesn't work and never will. Rationing causes WARS and mass suffering!!

Yes, great let's build alternate energy in order to have a sustainable society. Well, who's going to build it? And what's there motivation? In a society when you ration, you get shortages. It's basic economics. If you go to a "station" to pick up groceries and you have a family of 5 or 6, who decides how much food you get in relation to a family of 4? Who decides this? The government? Who? Shouldn't it be you deciding? You work to receive a wage and depending on your purchasing power, you decide how much food you get for your family.

There are resource wars because governments are corrupt and they've corrupted our monetary system. If we used sound money, for example gold or silver backed currency there is an automatic check on the money system. That means no ability to inflate the currency to go to war. A sound currency means less taxes on your labor and more incentive for people to invent, create and produce stuff we need. Without money, there is no incentive. Without incentive there is no real progress. I loved Zeitgeist but the Venus project is just too idealistic.

I find this whole idea very inspiring and refreshing, but i do think that the venus project is too far into the future. I can't see how we would get from where we are now, to that point without destroying everything in the process, you should be careful what you wish for.

Jaque Fresco is a legend and the more people who listen to his ideas and actually change the way THEY think and act...
then maybe one day the world will be a fairer and more pleasant place to be.

It has to be individuals who change their behavior.

Great idaes, great movement long may it last!

After watching movies like Earthlings, Food Inc, The Cove and many other documentaries about our dysfunctional society/species, I despair for our future. While I agree that the Venus Project is very idealistic and futuristic, I also feel that it's necessary to start somewhere.

We have to appeal not only to people's commons sense, but also to their emotional involvement in their own survival and well-being. This is the only movement that proposes all the necessary components of continuing our survival as a species.

I'd rather do something than nothing but logic won't be enough to convince humanity.

Guys Russia is ready to share its resources! Pls dial me if you need few :)

To tell the truth it's my second day I am studying the Venus Project and I am absolutely amazed with the idea itself! Being a little bit idealistic (I agree with someone above) however it has a very sane seed inside.. All known human problems come from 2 things: deficit (of goods/services) and competition. No money - no deficit (which is always made artificially to get higher profit). No money - no stupid competition between nations and between coworkers. All you need to do is enhance yourself and make your children better than you are - simple law of nature.

    But still many questions..

If no government is supposed in the VP who will take the decision on which direction to develop the Earth? and whether we need to build a new bridge or a road here or there?

Why should I work if I can get everything for free in this world?

And the most critical issue - how to change the way our planet is going right now when real power belongs to several families and corporations? All governments are hired by them.. they control world most powerful armies, political and social institutions, churches and resources..
