Man this is insanity. Is this where humanity is heading or crawling out of?

Great images here. Love light and Melody seems like a great cause.

Thanks for sharing our work, Blake! We're stoked to tell this story through Vimeo... and receive such great encouragement from the community :)

That's right, Dan. This is the trash dump community in Managua where Love Light & Melody works.

More info is coming soon on the website, and we also have a Facebook group:

wow .. this is amazing the feeling of the images without news cuts .. thank you for presenting the first film I have seen of a situation without glorification or a graphic "sell".

Very moving images. It's hard to imagine living in those conditions.

What is the long term plan to help these people? I couldn't figure it out after looking at the website.
  • Braddigan 2 years ago
It's our dream that one day trash will no longer flow into this community, and that a new, safe recycling center will be setup in Managua. And we hope to continue walking alongside these people everyday... with love, open eyes, and imagination for the next steps.

Interesting shots, thanks. With that sun it still looks nice but how does it smell?

I have seen people living ON such dumps... at least here they seem to live next to it...

I would be scared to walk around with an expencive camera, shooting these people, who dont have money, food or proper home. But this is unique! Not only did you make great footage, but also opened the eyes of the viewers with their internet and computers that not everybody is as hapy as them.

Wow, what a beautiful, bountiful dump that is sustaining all those people... they don't seem to need anyone's help, they are living in a poor country and serving a very useful purpose recycling a lot of their country's waste. Very well shot, nice work.
  • Braddigan 2 years ago
Thanks Harvard. We've been getting to know the both dark and beautiful reality of this community of family and friends over the past few years. While there is a lot of need that comes from living in extreme poverty, there's a really cool dignity and joy in their lives too :)

I had no idea this kind of thing even existed. I hope something gets done for the families living there.

it feels very post-apocalyptic. i really liked the images like blake but it seems like living there would be very harsh to say the least.

this would be a good place to start if you want to reflect more on the place:

    thanks, Braddigan
your video is one precious document!
    I know what is this
unfortunately, this is the reality in many places of my country...
I and others try to help working voluntarily for "ong´s" -no social organizations
but the cursed politicians, this sick class predatory destroy our planet obvious, also does its damage by here ...
    I ask: until when?
