This is part one of three short segments of an interview with Ralph Leighton who is a teacher educator who has been involved in the development of citizenship as a subject.
Raised in Glasgow in a Jewish working class community, he studied whilst working and eventually qualified as a social worker and worked in the East End of London before becoming a teacher amongst the Sikh community in Gravesend. On becoming a teacher educator at Canterbury Christ Church University he contributed to the development of Citizenship as a curriculum subject.
