2D paint-style renders' that I did for the Mikmak movie.
It was basically a 2D feature, with 2D (flash) characters.
Some backgrounds were created in 3D for camera moves, and saving the need to paint backgrounds from various angles.
The look is based on actual scene lighting (its not just texture projection).
I used a variation of toon shader, and toon occlusion.
The movie was created at "shortcut-plyground" studio, Art by Yaniv Shimoni.
