The International Summer School on „Forms and Pro- cesses of Sustainable Urban Design and Development“ in the Mekong Region (SUDD Mekong Region) has explored the gap between the pattern of urbanisation, the consequences for energy consumption and the urgent need for energy-efficient and clima- te resilient urban structures. It has considered forms and processes of sustainable urban development and has tested research-based concepts within the urban context of the city of Da Nang in Vietnam. The science-practice-exchange has discussed opportunities of implementation of sustainable urban development and design into practice and the integration into the education and academic institutions in the Mekong Region. The summer school was implemen- ted as a design and project workshop from 02.11. un- til 11.11.2012 at the Da Nang Architecture University and has supported graduates, young researchers and future scientific cooperation. It has focused on three project sites.
