Conversations in Lower Marsh
Lambeth Treasure Exhibition
2013 Festival of Neighbourhood at Southbank Centre
Interviewer, Gemma Drake spoke to the shopkeepers about their relationship with the street, what it is like as a location to do business in and the people they interact with day to day in Lower Marsh. The interviews offer an insight into a tight-knit community with strong friendships, family connections and support for each other during times of change. These stories accompanied shop portraits in the exhibition taken by Briony Campbell.
Lunchtime Sniffers: Conversation with owner Rebecca Rivers from Waterloo Body Station
Rebecca opened Waterloo Body Station on Lower Marsh five years ago, selling natural well-being products and therapies. She laughs about fitting in to the old ways of the street and correcting the street gossip. Rebecca shares her fond affection for the street, from the scrappy brawls seen on the pavement outside, to the lunchtime rush of customers who pop into the shop for a good sniff at the products.
