"The great appear great because we are on our knees. Let us rise!" James Larkin (1876 - 1947) Irish trade union leader and socialist activist.
When people have had enough of injustice, they get out and voice their anger in protest. I wrote this song for all those who have taken their courage in their hands and gone out to be counted. In Ireland and other countries we are made to feel like criminals for protesting against injustice. In Ireland the unjust Home Tax was brought into law and people felt pressured to pay even when they wanted to fight it. In Wisconsin (USA) people are arrested for singing in public. In Taksim Square and Gezi Park lawful assembly is beaten back with tear gas.
The simple fact is that people can and do make a difference and singing about it, can help.
Filmed at home with the video function on my Nikon camera. (PS: I have no idea how to use the camera properly!!)
