Once resources are fully separated, they are compressed into rectangular bales, which make them easier to stack and transport. The blocks of recyclables are held together by steel wire, and vary in size and weight. But generally bales are approximately 3’x3’x4’ and can weigh up to a ton (2,000 lbs).
