I have been working with frequent collaborator Nonagon to visualize tracks from his latest project Dust Red Skies. Dust Red Skies is a duo consisting of Nonagon and vocalist/songwriter Angie Donkin. I first worked with them during a session a few years back as CSTNG-SHDWS. I plan on dusting off some of the video from the old sessions and spritzing them up for this new Dust Red Skies release, as well as producing some new work.
"Crescent Moon" is essentially the party tune on the album, and I wanted to make an upbeat bit of work that felt like ukiyo-e style meets grids and geometric type. It was important to get the feeling of staring at the moon without ever directly showing a moon on screen. This project began as a demo in my Motion Graphics 2 course at AAU Web Design + New Media showcasing the Trapcode Suite of plugins for After Effects. I've expanded it to be the length of the song and had fun building this track out. Every single Trapcode plugin is used- see if you can spot your favorite.
