Skin Deep is a collaborative dance film co-created by Richmond artists Rebecca A. Ferrell, a local dancer/choreographer, and filmmaker Joey Tran. This solo dance, choreographed and performed by Ferrell and directed and edited by Tran, is inspired by the unique design of the Riverfront Canal Walk and its sculpted similarities of the human body. Both Ferrell and Tran worked directly together to capture the curves, lines, and architectural uniqueness that make the human body and this historical landmark so appealing.
Skin Deep is projected onto water, giving the illusion that the dancer is performing under the surface.
This piece was selected for InLight Richmond, a light based art installation showcase by 1708 and curated by Ken Farmer, Creative Director of Nuit Blanche New York.
