Lisa D'Amour, in her second residency at MacDowell, explained that it was the perfect setting for her to get work done on several projects. Among them, Airline Highway, a play commissioned by Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and Cherokee, a play she’s preparing for a premier at The Wilma Theatre in Philadelphia in January. At MacDowell, D’Amour was putting the finishing touches on Cherokee, a play that revolves around two couples, one Caucasian and one African-American, who decide to go camping together.
