Singapore imports 95% of it' food and grows only 5% of it, we are far from food self sufficiency, many urban folks are divorced from the food growing process as we take it for granted that the supermarket shelves will be stocked up at all times. The truth is the future looks bleak with the global food crisis looming, degradation of farmlands worldwide and climate change food will become a major factor towards the survival of any country.

This video shows how groups and individuals in Singapore are doing their small part in changing that through innovative urban farming techniques, involving, changing and engaging the land, the community, breaking old habits and reinvigorating lost wisdom to help our next generation remember where food comes from and how to farm them.

Looking at unused rooftop spaces Singapore is set to become leaders in the urban farming movement as the global food problems makes it more of a necessity for the future of our tiny state.
