I came across a tutorial for modeling a flashlight in a book. (I actually learned something from a book! Wow. They aren't completely useless after all.) Anyway, it inspired me to a build a flashlight and basically reanimate the now FAMOUS "flashlight drop" shot from ShadowBoxing (vimeo.com/5292641) to see what things might have be like if I had done the movie in 3D animation. It turns out the movie would have been awesome but would have taken forever to render.
Things I learned:
1. I can make things look realistic-ish.
2. I'm still not 100% on the whole three dimentional rotation animating thing but I'm getting there.
3. I'm still afraid of the dark.
