My friend and housemate Leslie cultivated an appetizing garden, both to behold and to taste in the side lot of Jimmy's Place (the house where we live), this last growing season. It began with informal conversations about what greens or root vegetables she was thinking of growing, and with the inspiration and support of her very close friend Ruthie Stringer, the garden happened.

Every time I went outside, to head into town or to my studio, there Leslie was, building raised beds, moving earth, seeding, watering, blowing my mind...

It was very inspiring to see the garden develop; and to eat from it, well that was a very precious part of my summer.
