Cynthia talks about her process, her work with repurposed metals, and her duration as an artist.

Born in San Diego, Cynthia Stanchak is currently residing in Pittsburgh, PA. Having lived in New York, Illinois, Denmark, Florida and Colorado, she has been greatly influenced by her ever-changing surroundings. Her greatest inspiration comes from a combination of Scandinavian and classic modern design. A recent trip to Africa had the most profound effect on her work causing further layering and texturizing of each piece, while working outside the boundaries of a photograph.
While obtaining a BFA at Drake University in 1979, Cynthia Stanchak blended the realms of photography and painting to create a different kind of art. Over the years, this unique mixed media style attracted a national and international audience of galleries, museums, and collectors including Canon USA and Pepsi Corporation. Her work is featured in numerous publications including Artquest and Art Space. She has also lectured at Drake University and Alexandra Museum.
