Each year, for just one day, the BVA and VEA transform Amsterdam into the heart of the Dutch communications industry with the 24 Hours of Advertising, the creative marketing industry’s leading event.

The 24 Hours of Advertising is a unique environment for professionals in the communications industry to be inspired; to show great, award-winning work; and to update their network. This year, more than 3.0000 people – from student to CEO, from small business to multinational – came to learn, listen and share ideas.

Highlights of this year’s event include the prestigious annual Effie Awards show, and the Next Level Talks, featuring, amongst others, Daan Roosegaarde and Microsoft’s Andy Hart. Guests attending the Effie Awards will witness the best and most effective advertising campaigns of 2013 awarded with a Bronze, Silver or Golden Effie, while the Next Level Talks will bring new insights as inspiring (international) speakers give their view on the event’s yearly theme. In 2012, former US President Bill Clinton gave a motivating speech on how ‘Creativity can change the world’.

And that’s not all, as students from universities all around the Netherlands are invited to attend the Young Talent Class lectures to find out more about why they should come work in one of the world’s most versatile – and fun – businesses. Held throughout the morning, the Young Talent Classes will see enthusiastic creatives, advertisers and marcom professionals from the industry showing students what the communications business is all about.

Located right in the city’s centre, Amsterdam’s famous Beurs van Berlage venue will be transformed into a temple for advertising. In addition to the various events, a Cannes Lions Print exhibition will be held, and is open to all for free. Curated by a team of JongeHonden, the exhibition will showcase some of the Cannes Lions award-winning print campaigns. In the evening, the best films from last year’s Cannes Lions Festival will be shown.

The 24 Hours of Advertising is an initiative organized by Bond van Adverteerders (Dutch Association of Advertisers) and Vereniging van Communicatieadviesbureaus (Dutch Association of Advertising Agencies).
