Like Jacques of Denis Diderot’s classic novel by the same name, Liu Dao’s Jack Russell Terrier tells many stories of different days. As he playfully sprawls, paws outstretched, rolling over and over begging for a scratch, and then back to watch the action around us, you would be forgiven for failing to recognize this good-natured pet as a fine, red fox hunter. By his master’s side, flushing out foxes from underground, Jack’s keen instincts led to many a victorious tale and boisterous celebration. In this work, Liu Dao’s artists create one candid canine narrative of a road that is never dull and the hunt that is never too tough when you have the right companions by your side.
